What are the responsibilities of the Tahoe Donner HOA?
The Tahoe Donner Home Owners Association (530-587-9400) has many responsibilities some of which include routine maintenance, security and up keep of community amenities such as the Northwoods Club House, Trout Creek Recreation Center, the Tennis Complex, the golf course, swimming pools, hiking trails, etc. Annual fees are assessed to cover these expenses. The HOA also plays a role in Architectural Standards for Tahoe Donner which maintains the look and feel of our community.

How much are Tahoe Donner HOA fees and who pays these fees?
The Tahoe Donner HOA fee for 2010 is $1300. The HOA fees are collected from every property owner and owners with multiple properties pay the annual fee for each piece of property owned. Condo owners also pay the Tahoe Donner HOA fee. Each property is entitled to 4 picture I.D.’s for family members. What are the Tahoe Donner Amenities and who can use them?
Tahoe Donner has a number of amenities including: Trout Creek Recreation Center (2 pools, gym, spas, steam room, sauna, locker rooms etc.), Northwoods Club House, Golf Course, Downhill and Cross-Country Ski Areas, Donner Lake Private Beach and Marina, Tennis Complex, Equestrian Center and the Alder Creek Campground. Only the Golf Course, Ski areas and Equestrian Center are open to the public.

Is there a fee to use the Amenities?
All the amenities have a use fee. Tahoe Donner homeowners may purchase an optional Recreation Pass($220 per year for 4 family members) which allows unlimited use of Trout Creek, Northwoods Club House, the Tennis Complex and Donner Lake Beach and Marina. Without a “Rec” Pass there is a once per day fee to use the amenities. Guests are required to pay the daily fee to use the amenities. Homeowners pay a discounted use fee from the public rates for Golfing and Skiing. Homeowners may also purchase a discounted season pass for the Golf Course and Ski Areas.

Who plows the streets in Tahoe Donner?
The streets are plowed by the Town of Truckee.

Who plows the driveways in Tahoe Donner?
Home owners are responsible for clearing their own driveways. Typically, home owners’ contract with snow removal companies that keep the driveways cleared throughout the Winter.

Who provides the best snow removal service?
For efficiency, we suggest that you contact the company that plows the majority of driveways on your street. This way you are more likely to get your driveway cleared earlier in the day! The two main snow removal companies in Tahoe Donner are:

  • SnowTech (530-582-0300)
  • Waltman’s (530-587-7017)

How much does it cost to get a driveway plowed?
Each driveway is individually evaluated. Location, length and complexity will be factored into a snow removal bid. An average driveway in Tahoe Donner will cost about $650 for the winter; some driveways could be slightly less and a really tough driveway could be more.

What is the weather like in Truckee?
The National Weather Service reports that Truckee’s warmest month is July with an average temperature of 82.7 degree F and an average minimum temperature of 42.4 degrees F. January is reported as the coldest month with an average max temperature of 40.9 degrees F and an average minimum temperature of 16.3 degrees F. Normal annual precipitation in Truckee is 30.85 inches and Truckee has an average of 198.3 inches of annual snowfall. The most snow in one month was 113 inches and that was in December of 1992.
